 SOAP BOX HERO CONTEST

The Soap Box Hero Contest will be an old fashioned speaking contest. Each contestant will pay a $2 entry fee. In the first round, each contestant will speak for up to 3 minutes on a liberty-related topic of their choice. We'll have a sound system and soap box (usage is optional) to aid in the contestants' presentations. After the first round, each non-contestant will be allowed to vote for up to three people to advance to the final round. The three highest vote getters in the first round advance to the final round. In the final round, speakers may give the same speech, expand their speech to 5 minutes, or talk about something completely different for 5 minutes. Final voting will then take place with each of the non-finalists voting for one contestant who will be awarded most of the contest entry fee money, and more importantly will be crowned as the 2010 Wyoming Liberty Fest Champion Orator. The other two finalists will receive the remainder of the money (the split will be announced before the finalists speak).

You may of course vote for whoever you want for whatever reason, but here are some suggestions for judging the speeches:

• Most likely to convince outsiders of the rightness of the issue
• Most interesting or unusual topic
• Most informative, speaker is well-informed about the topic
• Best delivery
• Most motivational to get listeners to volunteer or work harder

Note that the speeches will be recorded and put on YouTube unless speakers specifically request otherwise.
